I left for Kenya 2 days later for 6 weeks. When I returned there was a handwritten note with a personal donation (no not big enough to buy the date!) waiting at my house. How did he propose?: It was a snow day in New York. He told me to meet me at The Plaza Hotel for a drink before we went home for dinner. I was in my hiking boots and told him I was not dressed appropriately. He told me he would bring my shoes to change into. We met in the lobby and he pressed 17 in the elevator. Curious where we were going, he said, “to change”. He rented a suite for the evening and brought all my stuff from home. When I opened a drawer to change my clothing, there was the ring. We got dressed up and went to the Oak Room for dinner. When did you know he was “the one”: Every moment leading up to the proposal ~ there is no way I could list just one moment or reason.
